Artist’s Statement
In December of 1999 I began setting my paintings on fire. I was looking for something new.
Two of the very few things I worship are creativity and innovation. As an artist, I have been consumed with the task of finding a form of painting that embodies both things. With this series of work I feel as though, for the first time in my experience, I have accomplished this.
All of the work in this online gallery is figurative. I am a great admirer of the human figure. It is one more of the very few things I worship. Some of the work is quite representational, some very abstract. You will pardon, dear viewer, the severe breadth of this body of work. It represents the most successful works of a year and a half of complete experimentation. The application of paint and technique vary dramatically. It seems that the act of creating new forms is a haphazard one. There is however, as you will see, a very strong unifying theme.
